Phillip M. West, 76, of Brown County passed away from this life at 9:20 a.m., Friday October 23, 2020 at Columbus Regional Hospital with his children by his side.

Phillip was born March 1, 1944 in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Michael H. and Viola M. Hobson West. On April 22, 2002 Phillip married the love of his life, Sharon Everroad. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2018. Phillip went to work for Arvin Industries at the age of 17. He retired in April 2010 after nearly 50 years of service. After retirement, Phillip owned and operated The Sandwich Shop for several years. He was currently working at Abe Martin Lodge in Brown County State Park. He attended Columbus Free Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling at Columbus Bowling Center.

Survivors include his daughter Kimberly (Bill) Hodapp, with whom he resided and his son Kenneth M. West, both of Brown County. Step-daughter Amy (James) Barrier and step-son Andy (Amanda Gates) Everroad, both of Columbus. Three brothers, Charles Hobson of Columbus, James (Helen) West and Moe (Janet) West, both of Brown County. A sister-in-law Judy (Cooley) West of Worthington, Indiana. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon (Everroad) West, his parents, his brother Roger L. West and his sister in-law Bernice Hobson.

A celebration of Phillip’s life will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Luke Maggard officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 until time of services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
