OBITUARY: Shirley Rose, Novembr 25, 1936 ~ October 23, 2020 - reprinted from the O'Connell Family Funeral Home website

Shirley Ann Rose, age 83 of Hudson, beloved mom and grandma died peacefully October 23rd, 2020 at her home with family at her side.

Shirley was born on November 25, 1936 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; the daughter of Roy and Nora (Meyers) Siglar. She was raised in Cumberland where she graduated from high school. On October 12, 1957, she was united in marriage to Fred 'Fritz' Rose in Cumberland. This union would be blessed with eight children. For many years, she greeted you with a smile and a treat as she worked for Dairy Queen in downtown Hudson. She worked nearly thirty years at DQ and had the honor of working with some of her children there too.

Shirley loved being around her family. To her children and husband, she was their rock. Juggling her job and raising her children, she did it with great joy. Those around her felt her caring and supportive ways. Some of her hobbies included trips to Canterbury Park by watching the horses run to knitting slippers, afghans, and hats for friends and family. The family cabin in Cumberland held many memories. Christmas celebrations, Fourth of July bashes, and Easter egg hunts were always fun. The most joy for her was watching the smiles on other's faces.

Shirley will forever live on in the hearts of her children Connie Rose (Bob Blair), Becky Rose (Bill Payne), Roy (Julie) Rose, Phil Rose, Brad Rose (Julie Dobbin), Shelly Rose, Roxy (Tom) Kuhl, Missy (John) Bjornstad; thirteen grandchildren Matt (Kristina) Murtaugh, Mike Murtaugh, Tiffany Rose (George), Bethany (Dan) Kiser, Brittany Rose (Tim), Robbie Rose (Melissa), Scott (Logan) Evenson, Austin (Kennedy) Evenson, Hunter Evenson, Josh Pittman (Stacie), Zach Pittman, Greg Bjornstad (Kayla), Taylor Brornstad; great grandchildren Bella, Ariel, Chloe, Myah, Ivan, Scarlett, Gracie, Nolan, Mila, Kolton, Daryl, Levi; brothers/sisters-in-law Dan (Pat) Rose, Jerry (Kathy) Rose; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Fritz, and sister Dede Spangers.

Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley will be 12pm Noon, Friday, October 30th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with her grandsons having the honor of being casketbearers with her granddaughters serving as honorary casketbearers. Visitation will be on Thursday October 29th from 4pm until 7pm at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the mass at church on Friday morning.
