David Lynn Shoemaker, 87, passed away on Oct. 2, 2014, at Courtenay Springs Village, Merritt Island, Florida. He was born on June 3, 1927, to the late Abram Lee and Mildred (Smeltzer) Shoemaker in Greentown. In 1957 he married Patricia Dulhanty, who passed away in 1998.. He served his country in the Army Air Corps, Coast Guard and Air Force, retiring in 1971 after 25 years of service.. He was employed by Coca-Cola Bottling in Kokomo and Winn-Dixie in Cocoa, Florida.. Survivors include daughter, Gina Shoemaker, South Africa; son, Christopher Shoemaker, California; sister, Suzanne Gingerich (John), Kokomo; and brother, Roger Shoemaker, Warner Robins, Georgia. He also is survived by three nephews, Kevin, Jonathan and Eric Shoemaker, all of Georgia.. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
