Mr. William Stephen “Steve” Hodges, age 68, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday October 20, 2020 at his home with his family at his side.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday October 23, 2020 at the Dixon Cemetery in Chocowinity and will be officiated by Pastor Shad Watters. Pallbearers will be Michael Alligood, Wayne Jackson, Ray Hodges, Earl Godley and Bennie Bright, and Brent Hodges.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday October 22, 2020 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.

Steve was born in Beaufort County on April 22, 1952 son of the late Norman Junior Hodges and Betty Ruth Dixon Hodges who survives. He attended Chocowinity High School before serving his country in the U.S. Army. On August 3, 1984 he married the former Judith Zorada Everette who survives. In 2012 he retired from PCS Corp. in Aurora as an electrician. He was a member of Washington Moose Lodge # 1800, enjoyed fishing, mowing grass and mowed the lawns of many.

Surviving along with his wife Judy of the home and mother Betty Hodges of Chocowinity are two daughters: Stephanie Hodges Alligood (Michael) and Heather Dawn Hartley (David, Jr.) all of Washington; a sister: Betty Lou Steel (Robert) of Chocowinity; a brother: Terry Allen Hodges (Selena) of Blounts Creek; four grandchildren: Lincoln Riley Alligood, Nolan Caffrey Alligood, Hunter Lee Leggett and Holden Reed Leggett; a special fur baby Louie of the home and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased along with his father by two brothers: Jessie Norman Hodges and Elbert Glenn Hodges.

Flowers are welcome and appreciated and the family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
