John Robert Milam, age 76 of Lafferty, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born October 24, 1943 in Beckley, West Virginia, son of the late Robert Earl Milam and Margaret Ruth (Huffman)Milam Curtis. John was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He is a West Liberty University Graduate, and also completed studies at Beckley College, Mountain State University and Northwestern (California) School of Law. He was a U.S.Army Veteran stationed at Arlington Hall Station, and the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA where he studied Russian Linguistics. John retired as a Union Negotiator for the United Steelworkers Union. John also hosted a weekly radio show in the Wheeling area and taught at Belmont Harrison Technical College.
John enjoyed reading, writing, painting, and playing the guitar.
John was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Unitarian Church.
Surviving are: daughter Katrina Milam of Phoenix, AZ, two sons, John Karl Milam (Molly) of Cambridge, OH, Robert Milam of Phoenix, AZ, sister Lisa Luanne Smith (Glenn) of Beckley, WVa and brother Mark Milam (Tamara) of Mt.Carmel, IL. John had three grandchildren, Rick Patterson of Phoenix, AZ, and Gracie and Garrett Milam of Cambridge, OH. The family will have a private gathering at Monterey Bay California and a local service at a later date.
