Dorothy Lee (Huber) Jacobs was born January 16, 1927 at home in rural Talala, Oklahoma to John and Mary Huber.
She passed on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Presbyterian Manor, Parsons, KS.
Dorothy attended Talala schools, graduating as valedictorian in 1944. While attending high school, she worked in several different homes in the area cooking, cleaning, ironing, etc. She attended the Talala First Baptist Church, accepting the Lord as her savior in 1939.
She and John William Jacobs were married on May 6, 1944 in Claremore, OK. They lived on a farm east of Talala on the Verdigris river until the farm was taken by the Oolagah Dam. They moved to Oswego, Kansas in the spring of 1957.
Together, John and Dorothy operated a dairy farm and raised their family west of Oswego until his health forced him to retire in 1977. He passed in 1983 and Dorothy continued to live on the farm, helping her family continue the farming operation until 2007, when she moved into Oswego. She took great pride in being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Dorothy was a member of the Oswego First Baptist Church, serving the Lord faithfully for 56 years.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Mary (Bill) Hoffman, Oswego, son Bill Jacobs, Oswego and stepson Johnny Amos Jacobs, Parsons. Other survivors include four grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters, Grace Wood, Collinsville OK, Delphine Aday, Russellville AR, Margie St. John, Talala OK, Betty McClain, Claremore OK and Ruth Garrett, Claremore OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law Sharon Jacobs, grandson Terry Hoffman, a great-granddaughter Hope Smith and brother John (Jack) Huber.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Oswego. Burial will follow at the Oswego Cemetery.
No formal visitation is planned, but friends are encouraged to visit the family at the home of Mary Hoffman at any time. Memorials are suggested to the Oswego First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Oswego.
