Patricia A. Young, 84-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the Riverside Assisted Living in Royalton, MN. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2019 at First United Church in Little Falls, with Rev. Tony Romaine officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Patricia “Pat” Fordyce was born on April 8, 1935 in Park Rapids, MN to the late Loren and Iliff Fordyce. She graduated from Akeley High School in 1953. Pat married Richard “Dick” Young on February 7, 1954. She was a homemaker and for many years worked at Thrifty Drug and also did daycare in her home. In her earlier years, Pat enjoyed snowmobiling with family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing on her favorite lake, Mary Lake and also spending time at the cabin in Akeley, MN. Many memories were made at the cabin in Akeley, which was across the road from her childhood farm. Her family continues to make memories at the lake and cabin. Until recently, she was able to continue to remain a part of those special times. Pat enjoyed dancing, card games and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed her last year at Riverside Assisted Living in Royalton, MN. The residents and staff became an extended part of her family. She liked the activities and music that was played there, but not Bingo. Pat is survived by her son, Larry Young of Pequot Lakes, MN; daughters, Linda (Ken) Santala of Little Falls, MN, Kathleen (Steve) Malek of Mount Joy, PA, Stacey (Brad) Zapzalka of Sartell, MN; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and another due October, 2019. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Iliff Fordyce; brother, Richard Fordyce; sister, Marian Schraeder and her husband, Richard “Dick’ Young. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
