Col. J. S. White, Jr., 76, was a retired U.S. Air Force pilot, buried with full military honors! He was born March 14, 1915, McComb, MS, son of John Scott White and Evelyn Myriam Bostick.

Graduating from McComb High School, he attended Millsaps College before the military and Mississippi State University following retirement. While at Millsaps he was a member of the band that had the honor of playing at the inauguration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

He retired in 1964 after 25 years of military service. He was a pilot during WWII and served in the European Theater. He received the distinguished Flying Cross.

He and his wife, Audrey McGuffee from Brookhaven, had three daughters Bettiann (Lloyd); Nancy (Bryan) and Janet (Worthy). He left behind 8 grandchildren.

He had two brothers, Quinton and H. L. and one sister, Irene (Wilkinson).

He had resided in Starkville, MS since 1969 until his death from emphysema.
