Brenda Kay Wheatley-Cartwright, age 57 of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020 at SSM St. Louis University Hospital.

Born June 18, 1963 in East Prairie to the late Arthur “Bob” and Betty Kirby Wheatley, she retired from Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, where she had been employed as a medical technologist for many years. She held an A.S. degree in Science and a B.S. in Business.

Her most important role in life was being a wife, mother and G-maw. Brenda believed in having a personal relationship with God over religion. She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church and had also attended New Beginnings Church, as well as visiting many other churches in the area.

She was the beloved wife of 40 years to her husband Billy, a loving and caring mother to her children, loving G-maw to her five grandchildren, mentor, teacher, counselor, helper to all, and a prayer warrior to many.

On May 20, 1980 in East Prairie, she married Billy Cartwright, who survives of the home.

In addition to her husband, Brenda is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ashley and Brian Rayburn of East Prairie and Lacey and Robert Atkinson of East Prairie; brothers and sisters-in-law Bobby and Linda Wheatley of East Prairie, Danny and Laura Wheatley of East Prairie, Jimmy Wheatley of East Prairie, Ronnie and Pam Wheatley of Benton, Missouri, Robert “Pug” Wheatley of East Prairie; as well as Bob and Beverly Cartwright of East Prairie, Ray and Susan Cartwright of Dogwood, Missouri, Mike and Joanne Cartwright of Canalou, Missouri, Fred and Tracie Cartwright of East Prairie and brother-in-law Danny Greer of Sikeston, Missouri; sisters and brothers-in-law Carol Wheatley of East Prairie, Joyce and Paul Page of East Prairie, Judy Bailey of Kentucky and Kathy Cartwright Paro and Paul Benson of East Prairie; and five grandchildren, Kennedy Rayburn, Ruger Atkinson, Layton Musgrave-Rayburn, Kimber Atkinson and Zayda Rayburn.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Hilda Greer; one brother and sister-in-law, Ron and June Cartwright; and brother-in-law David Bailey.

Graveside services will be held Monday, October 26, 2020 at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie. Bro. Mike Cartwright of Canalou will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Brian Rayburn, Robert Atkinson, Bobby Wheatley, Danny Wheatley, Jimmy Wheatley and Ronnie Wheatley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruger Atkinson and Layton Musgrave-Rayburn.
