She was a native of Tattnall County and moved to Lyons in 1946. She was a homemaker and worked as a bailiff for the Toombs County Sheriff's Office. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons, the John Durst Sunday School Class, and she really enjoyed working and managing the children's nursery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Thompson; parents, Guy Rountree and Janie Lou Samples Rountree; and three sisters, Ann Williams, Bobbie Deal and Betty Sue Rountree.
Survivors include three children, Don Thompson of Lyons, Beverly Thompson of Claxton, and Tiffany Thompson Dixon and husband Jack of Warner Robins; three grandchildren, Jennifer Burns and husband Tren of Johnson Corner, T.J. Dixon and Racheal Dixon, both of Warner Robins; two great-grandchildren, Allison Burns and Abby Burns; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, October 24th, at 2:00 p.m. in the South Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 71, Lyons, GA 30436.
