Joey Danial Johnson was born September 18, 1975 at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Joey was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and graduated from Clintwood High School in 1994. He loved Nascar, going to races, concerts, and hunting. He also loved watching football with his favorite team The Denver Broncos. His greatest joy in life were his twin daughters.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tommy and Mildred Surratt; his father, Richard Hughes; cousin, Nicky Allen Surratt; and uncle, Ronnie Joe Surratt.

He is survived by:

His precious daughters: Abagale Johnson and boyfriend, Zachery Markham and Isabelle Johnson and boyfriend, Isaiah Romans

Very special fiancé: Tammy Gilreath

Mom and Dad: Carolyn and Ronnie Delaney

A private funeral service will be conducted Friday, October 23, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with Lester Mullins officiating. Covid guidelines will be followed and masks will be required. The family will meet at Mullins Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020 to proceed to The Stone Cemetery, Skeetrock Section, Clintwood, Virginia where a graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow.

Pallbearers will be Paul Payne II, Thomas Surratt, Phillip Freeman, Ronnie Delaney, Seth Baker, Dalton Elkins, and Reese Freeman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Mullins, Paul Payne I, Harvey Stone, Kenny Fleming, Doug Stone, John Sutherland, Patrick McCarty, Zachery Markham, Danny Yates, and Isaiah Romans .

Mullins Funeral Home and Staff are serving the Johnson family.
