Ronald L. “Ron” Grant, 80, passed away at his home in Klamath Falls on October 17, 2020.

Ron was born October 12, 1940 in Huntington, WV to Henry and Jean Grant.

When Ron was 17 the family moved to San Pedro, CA where he met the love of his life, Millie Smith, through mutual friends at San Pedro High School. The two later married at Ocean View Baptist Church, and soon after the newlyweds started a family. The couple later moved to Alturas, CA where Ron served in law enforcement for the City of Alturas. In 1976, they moved to Klamath Falls where Ron worked as a dispatcher for Southern Pacific Railroad - a job he worked for many years. After his time with Southern Pacific, he opened Ron’s Sports Cards in Klamath Falls. Ron and Millie attended New Horizon Christian Fellowship.

Ron was a fan of all things sports, whether it be on the course for 18 holes, practicing his deadeye archery skills, or trying for that elusive 300 in the bowling alley, he was always engaged. He shared his passions with his children and grandchildren, taking them hunting and fishing and watching their respective sporting events in person or online if he couldn’t be there. Ron was a lifelong member of another family, fans of the Los Angeles Rams. He was elated when they moved back to California and started winning again. A man of many talents, Ron never met a Sudoku puzzle he could turn away and he spent time as an amateur radio operator under the call sign: “N7CPE.”

Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Millie of Klamath Falls; daughter, Cindy Kunzman and her husband, Dave of Springfield, VA; son, Carl Grant and his wife, Deana of Keno, OR; daughter, Cheri Buell and her husband, Chris of Klamath Falls, OR; grandchildren, Jon Kunzman, Kristin Kunzman, Nicole Mijangos (Samuel), Brittany Lindsey (Chandler), Brandon Grant (Carissa), Dustin Grant, Gabriel Grant; great-grandchildren, Payton Grant, Alexzander Mijangos, and Branch Grant.

Ron was preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Grant, and his sister, Nancy Bohn.

A memorial service will be at 2pm on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at New Horizon Christian Fellowship, 1909 Homedale Road in Klamath Falls.
