Funeral services will be 11am, Monday, October 26, 2020 at Rafferty Funeral Home, Moline with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military honors by Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 299. Masks and social distancing will be required for all services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UnityPoint Hospice or American Cancer Society.
Dennis was born August 2, 1944 in Balboa, CA, the son of Harold R. and Ilo J. (Satern) Watson. He married Janice L. Hillyer on June 8, 2002 in Rock Island.
Butch graduated in 1962 from Clarion High School, Clarion, IA and was a US Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War on board the USS Kitty Hawk with the 7th Fleet. He worked at John Deere, Davenport retiring in 1996 after 30 years.
Butch was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2153, Moline, Rock Island Elks Lodge and served as Union Steward at John Deere. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and watching Nascar.
He also enjoyed his “social time” with his John Deere friends while camping and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; children, John Hillyer, Rock Island, Jon (Erica) Thorstensen, Woodhull, IL and Danielle (Jim) Lance, East Moline; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Hollie (Jerry) Roberts, Jefferson, IA; brother, Art (Cheryl) Watson, Macon, IL and many loving nieces and a nephew.
