Monday October 19, 2020, Ron McGuire walked through Heaven’s gates. We imagine he was greeted not only by Jesus, his Savior, but by his brother Galen, mom, dad, and so many family and friends.
Ron was born on September 27, 1948, to Kenneth and Maxine McGuire. “Toad” as many called him growing up, had four brothers, Galen, Bob (Ethel), Jim, and Dennis. He spent the beginning of his life in Morrill, Kansas, graduating high school, and meeting the love of his life Karen (Steele).
Karen and Ron were high school sweethearts who married on February 2, 1968. Their love was evident everyday of their lives and everyone who knew them was blessed to witness it.
Shortly after their wedding, Ron was drafted into the US Army and left for Vietnam in September of that same year. While he served, he received the Bronze Star for valor and bravery in combat.
Ron dedicated 33 years of his life working for Vit-e-Men Feed Company. He enjoyed the many relationships he made through his job.
Karen and Ron were fortunate to have two incredible children Kim (Thom) DeWald and Chad (Darla) McGuire. Their children blessed them with nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren (with another on the way) to whom he forever became known as “Papa”.
Ron’s life was full of laughter and love. He enjoyed running the West 40 Cafe with Karen, harvest time, driving sprint cars back in the day, taking care of his yard, watching birds, fishing, and loved spending time at the river with his family. Most of all, Ron loved Jesus and it was so important to him that everyone knew the importance of accepting Christ into your heart.
Ron’s wishes were to have an intimate family service and so we won’t have a funeral open to the public. That being said, please know how valued each of you were in his life. Ron’s last wish was to go back to Kansas one last time and watch his brother-in-law harvest. The Dream Weaver Foundation made that possible by providing an RV for him to do just that a week before his death.
