Billy "Brown" Hoover, 76 of Tamarac, FL, formerly of Ada, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2020. He was born on July 29, 1943, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Bill and Katherine Morris Hoover. He was preceded in death by his parents, a special uncle, R. Jack Hoover, his stepsister, Paula Stroud, and his son, Chad Hoover.
He is survived by his wife, Antonia Hoover of Tamarac, Florida, his brothers, Jack Hoover of Marble Falls, TX, Cal Hoover of Medford, OR, Danny Hoover of Shawnee, OK, and Edwin Stroud of Duncan, OK, daughter, Shelly Howard of McAlester, OK, daughter, Monica Scalise of Frisco, TX, son, Kenny Adams of Oklahoma City, OK, stepdaughter, Sigrid Dos Santos of Australia, stepdaughter, Cinthia Rocha Martin of Coral Springs, FL, stepson, Raphael Rocha of Margate, FL. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who loved him as their "Poppy" or "Baby".
Brown enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1964 and served 4 active years as a Field Artillery Surveyor Operation Man and two years in the reserves. During his service, he completed one tour in Vietnam, achieved the rank of Sergeant, and earned a number of awards before his discharge in 1970. He was most proud to be a marine, and you rarely saw Brown when he wasn't sporting his USMC hat.
After his service to his country, he began a career in telecommunications. He worked at KTEN Television and, later, became President of Trans Am Communications in Ada, OK. He spent 18 years at Trans Am Communications before retiring in 1990.
In 2001, Brown moved to Tamarac, Florida where he met his loving wife, and best friend, Antonia. The two married on December 7, 2002, and spent every moment together over the last 18 years. Brown loved the Lord and was an active member of Church by the Glades in Coral Springs, FL where he enjoyed his weekly men's bible study group.
A Celebration of Brown's life will be held at Waddell Vineyards in Ada, OK at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020. All family and close friends are invited to come celebrate the life of this husband, father, friend, brother, and Poppy!
