Nancy Sue Harris, 79, of rural Marshall, died Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Burial will follow at Slater City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, and to honor Sue’s passion of helping people, especially youth, memorials are suggested to Synergy Services, 2201 NE Parvin Rd., Kansas City, MO 64116.

Survivors include her mother, Genevieve “Jenny” Johnson Mitchell of Slater; daughter, Jennifer King (Edward) of Parkville, MO; two grandchildren, Jordan Fields and Mitchell King.

In addition to her husband, Terry Harris and father, Thomas Jordan Mitchell; Sue was preceded in death by two children in infancy, Mitchell Allen Bowers and Kendi Sue Bowers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Slater City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at the funeral home. Born August 7, 1941 in Slater, MO, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jordan Mitchell and Genevieve “Jenny” Johnson Mitchell who survives of Slater. On July 29, 1979 she married Terry Harris who preceded her in death on October 28, 2015. Sue was a 1959 graduate of Slater High School, earned an associate’s degree from Columbia College, a bachelor’s degree from Missouri Valley College, a master’s degree in counseling and a specialist degree in administration from Central Missouri State University. She taught for a few years in Slater, MO and Tempe, AZ, but the majority of her career was spent at Marshall High School where she was a guidance counselor. Sue was instrumental in getting the A+ program started at Marshall High School and for the state of Missouri, as well as traveling to Europe for over 20 years with People to People.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer King (Edward) of Parkville, MO; two grandchildren, Jordan Fields and Mitchell King.
