Sharon “Lynn” graduated from New Braunfels High School, The University of Texas, and received her Masters Degree from Southwest Texas State University. She began her counselling career at San Antonio Community College, and after moving to New Mexico, counselled and taught at Northern New Mexico Community College in El Rito. During that time, she worked closely with Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, the author of the book Death and Dying, which many see as the precursor of the current day Hospice. Sharon was a free spirit who loved being in God’s great outdoors. She was a prolific writer, and found joy being Mom and Grandmama/Nana to her boys and their children.
Sharon is survived by her sons David (Renee) Hill, Jesse and Joseph Quintanilla, step-sons Scott (Sadie) and Ky Quintanilla and grandchildren Wade J. Hill, and Keira Iris, Anastacia, Leslie, Justice, Ashley, Jayden, Natalya, Tatyana Quintanilla. She is also survived by her mother, Iris Timmermann Schumann, sisters Kay Reneau, Jeannine Biggers, Christine Wilson, and Anne Buck; life-long friend, Jacque Sahm Couser, and her beloved dog, Evie.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 30,2014, 5-7 PM, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home with services being held at Slumber Falls Camp’s Vesper Point, March 31st at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to SARA (Society for Animal Rescue and Adoption at www.sarasanctuary.org) or the charity of one’s choice.
