Norma Jean (Hines) Bush was born on November 14, 1927 in Mountain View, MO to William Franklin “Frank” and Mollie (Thomas) Hines. She graduated from Laramie High School in Laramie, WY, and then attended the University of Wyoming.
Jean went on to work at the First National Bank in Laramie until 1948, when she married Jerry P. Bush. Two children were born in Laramie to this union. The family moved to South Dakota in 1951 to take over the Bush family ranch. Norma and Jerry lived on the ranch until they moved to Sturgis in 1962. Jean went to work at the First National Bank (now Wells Fargo) in 1961, eventually retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, PEO Chapter AY, the Senior Citizens Center, and the hospital auxiliary. In her lifetime, Jean greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as playing golf, traveling, meeting with friends, playing bridge, and cruising.
Norma “Jean” Bush, 92, of Sturgis, died Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Monument Health Sturgis Hospital.
She is survived by her children,two grandsons,two granddaughters and 8 great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bush, in 1986; her parents, Frank and Mollie Hines; four sisters; and six brothers.
Committal services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating.
