Jessie Mae Rhodes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Young, was born at Fort Scott, on April 26, 1874, and departed this life, March 10, 1962, at the age of 87. She was baptized in the year 1898, and united with the Christian Church at Protem.
She was united in marriage to John Edward Rhodes, November 4, 1894. He preceded her in death, January 6, 1937. To this union, were born 6 children, whom survived. They are: Frank Rhodes of Galveston; Mrs. Andrew Brown of Branson; Mrs. L. W. Hensley, Bull Shoals, Arkansas; Gus Rhodes, Exeter, California; Otis Rhodes, of Hammond; Uless Rhodes of Protem.
She is survived by one brother; Ted Young of Rogersville, and 3 sisters, Mrs. G. B. Rhodes, Hughson, California; Mrs. Austin Ward, Theodosia; and Mrs. K. V. Peacock, of Theodosia.
She was preceded in death by one brother, George Young of Ocie, Missouri, and one sister, Mrs. Tom Bonner, Strafford. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces, and many friends.
Services were held March 14, 1962, at Salem Church, with Rev. Allen Ledbetter officiating, and burial was in Protem Cemetery, with the Whelchel Chapel in charge.
