Laura Ellen Blankenship was born near Louisville, on September 16th, 1877. She was the daughter of James Blankenship and Amanda Nance Blankenship.
In 1879, the family moved to Missouri, where they settled on the head of Big Creek. and she lived within a few miles of that vincinity, the remainder of her life, and was living in Protem, when she was taken to Skagg's Memorial Hospital, at Branson, where she departed this life, May 31, 1962; at the age of 84 years, 8 months, 15 days.
In 1898, she was married to George H. Batt, who died in 1905.
In 1906, she was married to John R. Owen. To this union, a son was born, who died at birth. In 1925, Mr. Owens passed away, after a long illness.
In or about 1929, she married Mart McCall, who departed this life in 1958.
She was preceded in death, by 4 brothers, and 3 sisters, and leaves to mourn her death, one sister, Mrs. Martha Wolf, of Protem, one brother, N. F. Blankenship, of Ocie, Missouri; two brothers, N. E. and H. F. Blankenship of Protem.
Seven step-children, eleven nephews, and seven nieces, with many other relatives, and a host of friends and neighbors.
When she was about 15 years of age, she professed a hope in Christ, and united with the Missionary Baptist Church, living in faithfulness to the end.
She was laid to rest in the Protem Cemetery, on June 2, 1962.
