George's wife Mary Ann Ayres Campbell was a sister of Benjamin Franklin Ayres, who first married George's sister Mary S Linkous in 1899 (she died and he remarried).

Funeral services for George Linkous, Protem, were held at the Salem Church on April 30 with Bob Grady in charge. Burial was in the Wolf Cemetery, under the direction of the Forsyth Funeral Home.
Pall bearers were Garland Holt, C.A. Wolf, Walter Lee Holt, Bobby Joe Holt, George Holt and Curtis Linkous.
George W. Linkous, the son of David and Mary Ellen Linkous was born in Rogersville, Tennessee, on June 16, 1877, and departed this life April 28, 1956, at the Lakeview Rest Home, after a lingering illness, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 12 days. He moved to Taney County at the age of 14 years and here spent the remaining part of his life.
On December 24, 1902, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Ayres, who preceded him in death n January 2, 1956. To this holy matrimony six children were born. His six children survive him, they are David B. Linkous of Harrison, Ark., Goldie Holt of Hilda, Trellous and Beulah Wolf, both of Cassville, Howard Linkous of Branson, and Amanda Mahr of Forsyth, four step-gradchildren, Lula Cole of Ocie, JOhn Campbell of Protem, Clara Slavens of Springfield, and Vince Campbell of Kansas City.
He was converted at an early age and lived a true Christian life until the end. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
He was a friend in need and was always willing to lend a helpful hand to his friends and neighbors and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors besides his six children, are 21 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, one sister, Maggie Prindle of Billings, Montana.
