He was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Richfield, a son of the late Thomas and Florence (Ferster) Snyder. He was married to the former Mary C. Mausteller who preceded him in death in 2004. In 2005 he married Gale L. (Barner) Kratzer who survives.
Paul was a 1950 graduate of Freeburg High School. Along with his brother, he had owned and operated, Snyder Brothers Floor Covering in Richfield, and retired from Wood-Mode.
Paul was a member of the Richfield United Church of Christ and formerly had been active in the Richfield Fire Company serving as an EMT, and the Richfield Lions Club. He had also been active in scouting.
He was an accomplished carver and woodworker. His family was the joy of his life and his wife Gale was the love of his life.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Terry Swineford; one son, Christopher Snyder; stepson, Lowell Kratzer and his wife Chris; stepdaughter, Lyndal Shadel and her husband Steve; grandchildren, Jennifer Umstead and husband Scott, Shane Swineford and wife Val, Ryan Swineford and wife Shanda, Matthew Snyder; great-grandchildren, Kerstyn and Wes Klinger, Kaitlyn and Aaron Shrawder, Brett Swineford, Zachary Umstead, Gavin Swineford, Emma Swineford, Faith Swineford, Brayden Swineford, Benjamin Umstead; great-great-grandchild, Camden Klinger; step-grandchildren, April Clark, Zane and Anna Kratzer, Stacy Shadel and Kyle Rhoads, John and Kelly Kinzer, and Jess Kinzer; step-great-grandchildren, Tyler Clark, Bryson Clark, Owen Kratzer, Greta Kratzer, Charlie Kinzer, and Blake Kinzer; and one brother, Wade Snyder.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sandra; grandchild, Richard Swineford; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Umstead, Matthew Umstead, and Kinsley Shrawder; one brother, Henry Richard Snyder; and three sisters, Luella Fogle, Charlotte Hilbish, and Doris Leitzel.
Private services will be conducted at the Richfield Union Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Brosius officiating.
