SHARPTOWN --Heather Jo Bennett, 31, of Sharptown, and formerly of Cuba, N.Y., died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge. She was born Feb. 5, 1976, in Cuba, a daughter of Martin Smith Sr. and Luanne Butts Smith. Heather attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Mardela Springs. She was proud of her heritage from New York and was an avid Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan. She enjoyed traveling. She worked as a waitress in various restaurants and had recently started a new career as a veterinary's assistant at Johnson-McKee Animal Hospital in Salisbury. Life for Heather was all about her family. She had an unconditional, unlimited love for her daughters, family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Doug Bennett; two daughters, Molly and Amber Bliss of Milford; two brothers, Martin Smith Jr., and his wife, Carly, and Matthew Smith, and his wife, Katherine, all of Cuba; her in-laws, Stanley and Donna Bennett of Mardela Springs; her maternal grandmother, Lorraine Butts; a brother-in-law, Darrell Bennett, and his wife, Stacey; nieces and nephews, Leah, Camden and Kaylin Smith, Delaney Bennett, Taylor Scott and Kirsten Ward; her husband's grandfather, Carlton Webster; her husband's aunt, Kaye Holloway; and by many other aunts, uncles and cousins. A daughter, Mariah Bliss; a maternal grandfather, Martin Butts; and her paternal grandparents, Melvin and Pearl Smith, preceded her in death. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St., Delmar, where family and friends may call on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Rev. Glenn Lyburn will officiate. Interment will follow the services in Mardela Memorial Cemetery. Donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
