Raymond W. Norwood, formerly of Shreveport, passed away on September 23, 2007 in Houston, Texas after a short illness. Mr. Norwood was born in Benson, Louisiana on September 2, 1919 to Allen Norwood and Athie Wimberly Norwood. He attended Benson and Pelican schools in DeSoto parish. As a member of the 204th Battery, Louisiana National Guard, he served in occupied Japan and Korea after World War II. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Norwood had retired from Binswanger Glass after 25 years of service as sales representative and area manager in both Monroe and Shreveport. He was the Founding President of the American Subcontractors Association.
He was an avid outdoorsman and always enjoyed hunting and fishing as long as he was able.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Norwood of Kingwood, Texas and sister Lynn Lurline Paulus of Orlando, Florida. His children include daughter Sheila and husband Anthony Castiglie of Houston, Texas, son Charles and wife Glenys Norwood of Woodland Hills, California, son Dale and wife Shirley Norwood of Kingwood, Texas, and daughter Kelcy and husband Dr. Jim Patterson of New Orleans. He is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Norwood, sister, Lelia Mae Harlan and brother, Bryan B. Norwood.

Raymond Norwood will be interred in Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport on September 27 at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Old Union Cemetery Fund, Sabine State Bank, 601 Polk St, Mansfield, LA. 71052.
