German Royalty. Friedrich Christian was born the youngest son of Prince Georg von Schaumburg-Lippe and Princess Marie-Anne von Saxe-Altenburg. He became an ardent supporter of the National Socialist Party after being disillusioned by the state of Germany in the aftermath of World War I, becoming an advisor to the Nazi Party Propaganda Minister, Joseph Goebbels. He was asked to become King of Iceland in 1939, but refused. Following World War II, he wrote extensively, defending the Third Reich. Prince Friedrich Christian married three times. His first marriage, in September of 1927, was to Countess Alexandra of Castell-Rüdenhausen, with whom he had three children, but a daughter died young. After his wife's death, he married Princess Marie Luise of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. He married a third time in March of 1971 to Helene Mayr. He had no children from his second and third marriages. He was a prolific author on the subject of the Third Reich. Among his publications were the biography, which was translated to English, "Was Hitler Really a Dictator?" and his personal diaries from 1933 to 1937.
