In 1980, began representation of District 17 (later named Dist. 15), authoring over 456 bills, and 120 of those regarding issues for the elderly and their health care: Alzheimer's, respite-care and elder abuse, among other critical concerns regarind seniors. Graduated Watsonville High School and Hartnell College in Salinas, California. Wife's name: Helen. Helped start Mello Packing Company, the family apple and cold storage business, among other business ventures. Played jazz saxophone.
