Stephens, Emma Gean OCEANSIDE --Emma Gean (Dodson) Stephens was born June 23, 1937 in Virginia and passed away Friday, November 23, 2012. Surrounded by family, she passed away peacefully at her home in Oceanside, California.

After raising her three daughters, she spent her time volunteering and helping others. She worked very closely with Brother Benno's Charity for many years. One of her most recent contributions was quilting and donating to Wounded Warriors of Camp Pendleton and quilting for Ministries for Ill Children and woman's shelter. She loved her flowers and was very involved in her flower club, winning many awards at the Coronado Annual Flower Show.

Many knew her as the "Bear Lady" for her outstanding bear collection. She was also very active in her church New Wine Ministries of Oceanside.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harry L. Stephens; daughters, Deborah Earl, Denise Gray and Diana Allen.

She is also survived by five brothers and four sisters, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition, there are many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as all the children she "adopted" that call her grandma.

In lieu of flowers, it was her request that donations be made to her church New Wine Ministries of Oceanside.
