Sharon Lynne Norton July 13, 1934 - Feb. 28, 2019 Sharon passed away peacefully Feb. 28, 2019, after a five year prognosis of lung cancer. Sharon , the daughter of Lewis and Cecil (Bailey) Mickey, was born in Portland. She was raised in Vancouver, Wash., graduated from Vancouver High School and earned her B.A. from the University of Washington. Prior to graduation she taught ballet and performed in many local productions. She taught school in Portland where she met her husband, James O. Norton , a fellow teacher. They were married in 1958. Sharon and Jim raised three children, and Sharon was a Camp Fire leader for nine years. She worked for 15 years as a librarian at Hosford Middle School. Following retirement, she volunteered with the Oregon Historical Society and the Urban Tour Group for 21 years. She enjoyed camping, hiking, biking and traveling. Many of the trips took her to places her ancestors had lived inspiring a lifetime interest in genealogy. Sharon is survived by her son, Michael; daughters, Katherine Anderson and Jennifer Dee; grandsons, Michael, Joseph, Jim and Luke; and sister, Mary Alice Olson of Olympia. She was loved and will be deeply missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 - 3 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2019, in the dance studio at the Multnomah Arts Center, 7688 S.W.
