Shawn Thomas Wilson, age 43, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014.

Shawn was born in Murray, KY, on July 27th , 1971. Shawn grew up in Nashville and graduated from Brentwood Academy in 1989. In 1994 Shawn graduated from the University of Virginia where he was a member of the varsity men's basketball team, having participated in three NCAA Tournaments and winning the NIT Tournament Championship in 1992. The University of Virginia was also where Shawn met the love of his life and his future wife, Kerry Katzenbach. Upon moving home to Nashville in 1997, Shawn built a successful career in the medical device sales industry where he was highly regarded throughout the medical community not only for his knowledge but also the uplifting spirit he brought to the operating room.

Shawn was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed all things hunting and fishing, particularly when he was able to be in the field or on the water with family and friends. The only thing Shawn enjoyed more than the outdoors was spending time with Kerry and their two daughters, Chloe and Claire. Shawn was a doting and proud father who was happiest when coaching or playing with his girls and their friends.

Whether he was at work, home, church, his girls' schools, or a social gathering of friends, Shawn had a special gift to share a silly joke, say a kind word or just be present in a way that made everyone else around him happier. Shawn was beloved by all who knew him well and will be missed tremendously.

Shawn was a long time member of St. George's Episcopal Church and Hillwood Country Club.

Shawn is survived by his loving wife, Kerry Katzenbach Wilson; his two daughters, Chloe Katzenbach and Claire Christina; his mother Ann Elizabeth Williams (Jim); his brothers, Marc (Shaun) and Trent; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Wilson; his paternal grandparents, J.T. and Nina Wilson; and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Laverne Walker.

A memorial service will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 29th followed by a reception in Hampton Hall.

In memory of Shawn, memorial donations may be made to the Shawn Wilson Fund, Virginia Athletic Foundation, P.O. Box 400833 Charlottesville, VA 22904.
