Laura Mae (Barham) Clanton married Gova B. Clanton in Santa Ana, Orange County, California on 4 June 1906.Laura Mae Barham/Clanton married Gova B. Clanton in Santa Ana, California on June 4, 1906. She told me they eloped in horse and carriage. They had three children, two sons and a daughter. Her two sons passed on before her, they were only in their 60's. Her daughter, Ethelyn Marie Clanton, lived till 1995. Grandma Clanton went to business college in Riverside, CA. She was her husbands bookkeeper/accountant, they had a dairy business in Rubidoux, CA. Grandpa Clanton passed away in 1962. As a child me and my siblings loved to go to Grandma's house. She'd bake us our own little pies and she made the best fried chicken and pot roast. It didn't hurt that her son, Kenneth Clanton, had a meat shop at the Cooley Ranch in Colton, CA. and she got the best meat around. I remember the family dinners and outings at Fairmont Park in Riverside, CA., and the way Grandma always wanted to play 'Old Maid' when us kids were around. I can never forget her humming church songs while cooking and watering the flowers in her yard. She played the organ in church so she knew a lot of church music. Grandma was a great person and she has been missed very much. She's thought of often and always with love and respect.

When Grandma and Grandpa Clanton were first married, 3 of Grandpa's siblings went to live with them. Dale Clanton was 15, Flossie was 13 and Fleta was 10 years old. Already made family!

What good memories I have of growing up with such a great Grandma.
