Perry William Francis, 88, 2836 S. Roan St., died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center.

He was a native of Mitchell County, N.C., and had lived in Johnson City for 55 years. Mr. Francis was a son of the late George and Bertha Troutman Francis.

He was owner of Francis Motor Sales and Francis Grocery.

Mr. Francis was a member of the Church of Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ilo Street Francis, in 1997; three children; one step-son; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Perry Francis Jr., Jonesborough, and Robert L. Francis, Johnson City; one daughter, Jo Ann Ledford, of the home; one brother, Lonis Francis, Kingsport; three sisters, Vesta McDonald, North Point, Fla., Lucy Rider, Eldora, Iowa, and Mae Davis, Kingsport; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Perry William Francis, 88, 2836 S. Roan St., Johnson City, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Church of Jesus, 809 W. Main St., Johnson City. Pastors George Hall and D.C. Byrd will officiate. Family and friends will meet in Roselawn Memory Gardens at 11 a.m. Tuesday for the graveside service. Pallbearers will be David Francis, Rickey Francis, Gordon Ledford, Elbert DeWitt, Harold Davis and Dennis Davis. The body will be taken to the church Sunday afternoon, where the family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Woodall-Anderson Funeral Home, 108 W. Watauga Ave., Johnson City, Tenn., (423) 928-2101, is in charge of the arrangements.
