Pauline M. Pheiffer, 91, of Davenport, IA, formerly of Monmouth and Alexis, joined her Heavenly Father, at 3:35 PM, Friday, September 21 at the Ridge Crest Village, Davenport, IA.
She was born January 2, 1916 in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of Frank and Hilma Paulina (Johnson) Peterson. She worked as a housekeeper in late teens in Galesburg.
Pauline married Charles J. Pheiffer on January 10, 1937 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Henderson Grove. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He died August 26, 2007.
Pauline farmed with her husband and 3 sons, John, Bob and Gary in the Rio, Alexis, Monmouth and Kirkwood Illinois areas until they retired in 1973. In addition she really enjoyed her flower gardens, raising Roses and African Violets. She loved to go dancing and being with her Square Dance friends.
In addition to helping her husband on the farm, she was a Sunday School Teacher for years as well as working at Monmouth College when they lived in the Kirkwood area.
Pauline and Charles traveled over 80,000 miles in their motor home, caravanning with their friends, seeing most of the United States and Canada. She and her husband were residing at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, IA.
She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Henderson Grove. She was also a member of several square dance clubs.
Surviving are her sons, John (Pat) Pheiffer of Davenport, IA, Bob (Sue) Pheiffer of Spring Hill, Kansas and Gary (Nancy) Pheiffer of Rock Island, IL, along with grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Peterson of New Windsor, IL; one sister, Alice Flick of Moline, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson; one brother Raymond Peterson; three sisters, Mildred Fostrom, Wilma Oglebay and Mary Lou Peterson.
Cremation has been accorded and Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Henderson Grove, 2092 Knox Rd. 150E. Galesburg, Illinois. Interment of cremated remains will follow the memorial service in Henderson Grove Cemetery next to Messiah Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at the Messiah Luther Church. In lieu of flowers, his family request that memorials be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, Henderson Grove, 2092 Knox Road 150E,Galesburg, IL 61401. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth is in charge of the local arrangements. .
