ROSALIND F. WHITAKER, 85, formerly of [7] Oakley Street, a receptionist for the former Perry Funeral Home, now the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, for many years and previously a receptionist in the office of Dr. Morris Keller, East Providence, died Wednesday in Ridgewood Court Nursing Home, Attleboro. She was the widow of Edwin Whitaker.
Born in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (DeFont[e]s) Andrade. She lived in East Providence all her life.
She leaves a foster daughter, Gertrude Lema of East Providence, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Steven Whitaker and the foster mother of the late Madeline Cyr. She was the sister of the late Virginia Parquette, Mary "Peggy" Youde and William Braga.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8 a.m. from the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter Street. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
