Gladys Jeanette Stone, age 100, of Como, Texas, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 in Como, Texas. Gladys was born April 10, 1920, in Almira, Texas to Samuel Erby Fletcher, Sr. and Maudie Pearl Castner Fletcher.

Gladys was a member Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta. She was a 1938 graduate of Naples High. Gladys and husband, Preston, owned and operated several country stores and service stations in Marietta and Naples. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and embroidery.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Stone; her parents; one sister, Mary Pearl Cook; three brothers, J.W. Fletcher, S.E. Fletcher, Jr., and Bobby Don Fletcher; one son-in-law, Jim Whiteman, Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Laticia Whiteman of Como, Texas; two grandsons, Jim Whiteman III “Trey” and wife Lori of Como, Texas and Juddson Stone Whiteman and wife Lisa of Dallas, Texas; two great grandchildren, Preston Kohl Whiteman and wife Grace, and Wade Reid Whiteman; three great-great-grandchildren, Avah, Preslie, and Ridge Whiteman; five step great grandchildren, Bryant Doebler, Alyssa Hover, Travis Taylor, Chelsea Lessing, and Nick Elizondo; five great-great-grandchildren, Ben and Josie Taylor, and Logan, Kynzie, and Ryan Hover; one special niece, Renea Fletcher Clark and friend Wilma Thompson; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jeanette loved her big extended family.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta with Dr. Chas Carlisle officiating.
