Viewing will be Friday October 16,2020 fro 10 am to 6 pm at Emanuel Funeral Home in Teague Tx.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 17,2020 at 2:00 pm at the C.L. Boulden Family Life Center in Buffalo Texas 75831

Joyce Marie West-Freeman was born on January 10, 1952 in Buffalo,
Texas to Ray and Lillie Dawkins West. She was the first of three children.
As a teenager, Joyce joined First Saint Holland Baptist Church, Rev.
C. L. Boulden , pastor and immediately showcased her beautiful alto
voice as a member of the First Saint Holland Junior Choir. Later as
member of the Senior Choir, she got the spirit flowing on Sunday's
singing "He brought me through this" and also "God Is." Joyce also
served as Secretary of the Sunday School and was a delegate at the
New Home District Congress and Association representing First Saint
Holland.
Joyce displayed her basketball skills in Junior High and throughout
her High School career. She had this one of a kind, unorthodox,
unique, side winding semi-hook shot that would swish the nets.
Joyce loved watching college and professional basketball and football
games. But her most cherish moments were watching her grandkids
display their talents. Granddaughter Jada,played college basketball
and her grandson JoCorian plays basketball at the high school level
and also plays the drums at church. Granddaughter, Tori was a singer
in her college choir and played the piano. As well as being there for
Shakayla, Princeton and Mya.
Joyce was avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles
Lakers.
Joyce also enjoyed watching westerns, soap operas General Hospital
and taking a nap in her recliner and later getting up and drinking her a
good old cold coke. Without a doubt, her favorite meal was a chicken
fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans and heavy on the
gravy.
Joyce received her education at G. B. Bennett and Buffalo High
School, graduating in 1970. Joyce later worked for the Buffalo I.S.D.
and retired in 2010.
On October 10, 2020 in Plano, Texas, Joyce left this earth on the Wings
of Angels. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray West; and
grandparents, Wesley and Maggie Dawkins and Inez Craw and Troy
West; great grandparents, Shed and Delia Wilson, John and Lorine
McAdams.
Loving Survivors: son, Larry Freeman, Jr., Buffalo, Texas; three
daughters, Kameka West, Frisco, Texas, LaTonya Davis (Corey), Deana
Freeman, Coppell, Texas; mother, Lillie West, Buffalo, Texas; sisters,
Linda Tatum (Tommy) Buffalo, Texas, Diana Tatum (Larry), Buffalo,
Texas; seven grandchildren, LaToria, Jada, JoCorian, Princeton,
ShaKayla, Zoe and Mya; two nieces, Tiffany and Chasity; nephew,
Chaz,a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
