Charla Jean Kelly, 74, a resident of the Yamhill community, died Sunday morning, August 30, 2020, at her home.

CHARLA JEAN KELLY was born August 8th, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Virgil “Pee Wee” and Hazel “Lucky” Minder. She was raised and received her education in El Monte, Ca. having been a graduate of the El Monte High School Class of 1964.

Charla was united in marriage to Dan R. Kelly on Dec. 24, 1976 in Vancouver, Washington. Following their marriage, they resided in Verboort, Oregon, until 1996 when they moved to the Tillamook community.

Charla had a vast work experience over her life to name a few, companies such as Tektronix, Inc. in Beaverton; as a Real Estate Agent in Hillsboro; as a joint venture with her husband Dan owning and operating CR Ceramics utilizing her love and talent for arts and crafts; and finally they owned and operated an assisted living facility in Forest Grove at the original Forest Grove General Hospital.

Charla was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Hillsboro and the Verboort Gun Club, where she loved to shoot trap!

Among Charla’s special interests, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap and skeet shooting. Charla was very artistic and had so much talent. Her hobbies included making silver jewelry, oil painting, leatherwork, sewing, knitting, ceramics, and so many more crafts.

Charla is preceded in death by her husband, Dan, on July 22, 2014 in Tillamook after celebrating over 38 years of marriage. A short time later she moved to the Yamhill community where she had resided ever since.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Virgil “Pee Wee” (1926-1980) and Hazel “Lucky” (1927-1994) Minder and her sister, Sally Wait (1954-2015).

She is survived by her fiancé, Larry Wait, of Yamhill; her four sons and daughters-in-law, Lenny Wilkendorf and Jean Griffin-Wilkendorf, of Lake Oswego; Darrin Kelly of Tillamook; Troy and Patricia Wilkendorf, of Fairview; Neil and Tara Wilkendorf of Placerville, CA.; her daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Jim Dotson, of Oregon City; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Patty Minder, of Dana Point, CA.;

Also surviving are her twelve grandchildren, Bret Griffin; Nadia Dajani; Jamee Wilkendorf; Nicole Wilkendorf; Crystal Kelly; Corey Wilkendorf; Devin Wilkendorf; Elisa Wilkendorf; Hayden Wilkendorf; Jacob Wilkendorf; Ethan Czepiel; Erin Czepiel; her five great-grandchildren, Layla Kuhlman; Georgia Lynn Kelly; Harper O’Dell; Kinsey Griffin; Austen Rae Griffin; and many nieces and nephews.

As both Charla and her sister Sally were victims and survivors of breast cancer in their lives, the family suggest that remembrances may be contributions to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/ ) In her memory.
