Harry A. “Junior” Russell, Jr., 75, of Keokuk, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at Unity Point Health in Keokuk.

Junior was born on February 10, 1945, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Harry A. and Thelma (Marmion) Russell. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1964. On September 11, 1965, he was united in marriage to Anna Stark in Carthage, Illinois. She survives.

Junior worked as an over-the-road truck driver for forty years until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and was honorably discharged. Junior was always working on a project around the house and was talented at home improvement. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends – especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed watching the news on TV.

Junior is survived by his wife Anna Russell of Keokuk, Iowa; his son Harold Eugene (Tammy) Russell of Keokuk; two daughters: Teresa Russell-Thomas of Keokuk and Mindy (Boyfriend Ed) Russell of Pomroy, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jason McKinley of Keokuk, Kurtis Russell of Keokuk, Kristin (Mike) McKnight of West Point, Iowa, and Andrew Russell of Keokuk; two great-grandchildren: Zane Russell and Molina McKnight; another great-grandchild due in March; and four siblings: Evert Russell, Rose Vradenburg, Grace Russell and Steve Russell. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Junior is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Charlie, Bud and Billie Russell; two sisters: Mary Alice Grove and Joyce Jones; and a very special friend Ralph Hall.

Junior’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 10 am on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. Family and friends may meet at 9:30 am on Thursday at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home for a procession to the cemetery. Military Honors will be rendered by the American Legion. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa 52632.

For the safety of those attending the visitation, masks are strongly encouraged, and social distancing practices will be in place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family of Junior in care of Anna Russell.
