ROBERT HENRY DAMPIER APR 12, 1923 - MAR 16, 2011

Robert Dampier passed away peacefully in his Modesto home surrounded by family and friends. Bob was born in Coos Bay, Oregon. His family moved to San Francisco Bay area soon after he was born. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served in the Pacific during WWII.

He married the love of his life Janice in 1945. Bob opened the first television store west of Chicago, TV Survey Company, in San Jose in 1948. In 1957 Bob and Janice purchased property in Ben Lomand (Santa Cruz area). There they built Dampier's Timberland, a resort which is still in business today. In 1965, Bob left the Santa Cruz and brought his family to the Central Valley. Here he purchased an almond farm in Hickman and farmed for 40 years. Bob was an avid bowler and had many friends in the Modesto bowling community.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice. Son Steve Dampier, and wife Stephanie Dampier and their children: Jasper, Jessica, Madison and Amanda. Daughter, Janet Dunn, and their children: Bob Dunn and wife Linda and their children: Michael, Damian, Jessica, Craig and Christopher; Amy Dunn and fiancé Nathan; Jesse Dunn.

Services will be private.
