A private graveside service for Edward Earl Arledge, age 80 will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 with his pastor Rev. Brett Puckett of the First Baptist Church, Vivian officiating. A “get together” to be held at a later date.

Mr. Arledge was born in Shoreline, LA on February 9, 1940 to Ruel Oswell Arledge and Myrtle Mae Greer and went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2020 after a brief illness. Mr. Arledge was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher for the Arledge/Holt Adult Men’s Class. He had a servant’s heart for his Lord, his church, the Vivian community and held services for the elderly on Sunday mornings at the Vivian Healthcare Nursing Facility before going back to First Baptist Church to worship. Mr. Arledge took pride in all that he did whether it was building a house, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and working with the children at the church. He loved to hunt and fish but later in life he would just sit and watch the wildlife.

Mr. Arledge is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert “Buster” Arledge and Arthur Glen Arledge. Those left to cherish is memory are his wife of 62 years, Susie Dennig Arledge of Vivian, LA; son, Lee Edward Arledge and wife, Demetria Dial of McLeod, TX; daughters, Debbie Sue Arledge Griffith and husband, Warren of Baker, FL and Amanda Elaine Arledge Adger and husband, Andy of Vivian, LA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Clara Cooksey Dostal and husband, Aric, Drew Griffith and wife Keely, Ben Griffith and wife, Gabby, Ethan Arledge and Addie Adger; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Arledge Densmore of Greenbrier, AR; brother, Jerry Arledge and wife, Sally Litton of West Monroe, LA and a host of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. John Haynes, North Caddo Medical Center and its staff for the amazing love and compassion that was given to Mr. Arledge while in their care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Ruth Davis Food Pantry, 311 N. Pine Street, Vivian, LA 71082.
