Clarence Edward King
November 21, 1939 - October 13, 2020

Clarence Edward King was born in Fresno, California on November 21, 1939 and passed from this life to the next on October 13, 2020 in Visalia, California. He was the second child born to William Isaac King and Addis Melvina Reagan. He spent his younger years in Louisiana as well as Kerman, California, where he met Carol Ann Johns. They married on February 11, 1960 and became the parents of five children: Dana, Kelli, Scott, Jonathan, and Patrick.

Clarence proudly served his country as a medic in the United States Navy from 1957-1961. Following his honorable discharge, Clarence bought his own cement truck and spent several years in the construction trade. However, this wasn’t the path he was supposed to take, and in 1968, he accepted a calling on his life to serve his God as a minister and pastor.

Clarence started a church in Sanger, California that same year. He remained there as pastor until 1973, when he moved his family to Tempe, Arizona and became a pastor in that city. He ministered there for nearly a decade.

In the early 90s, and with only the youngest child still at home, Clarence and Carol made the move back to California, settling in Turlock. They remained there until Carol passed away in 2010, just months after their 50th anniversary.

In 2013, he met and married Verlaine Webb Walden in Visalia, California, where he resided until his death. She survives him, as do all of his children, 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his youngest sister, Inella Northrup. Clarence was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; his parents, William and Addis; older brother, Toby; and younger sister Joyce Kight.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A private graveside services will follow with Rev. Charles Combs officiating.
