KINSEY. . .Dwight Carl “Shorty” Bowling, Sr., a resident of Kinsey, died early Saturday afternoon, September 21, 2019, at his home. He was 96.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 23, 2019, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Don Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the mortuary.

Mr. Bowling was born in Cullman and was reared in Kinsey, son of the late Deanie William Bowling and Katie Roberson Bowling. He lived in Kinsey for most of his adult life. Mr. Bowling was retired from Gulf Oil Company as a truck driver. In earlier years, he was employed by Newton Grocery Company and Mohawk Grocery Company. He was a member of the Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church. Mr. Bowling was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Mae Rich Bowling, a daughter, Sheila Harbert, a granddaughter, Lora Ann Bowling, two sisters, Bernice Clearman, and Ruth Sowell, and four brothers, Dorman Bowling, Gerald Bowling, Thurston Bowling, and Billy Joe Bowling.

Surviving relatives include a son, Dwight Carl Bowling, Jr. (Jean), Headland; two sisters, Sonja Harden (Freddie), Newton; and Jackie Windham, Dothan; two grandchildren, Jay Harbert (Pam) and Gennifer Alexander (Joe); nine great-grandchildren, several great-greatgrandchildren.
