Vera, daughter of the late William Joseph Quick, Sr. and Eula English Quick, was born February 25, 1948 in Scotland County. She was the devoted wife to the late John “J. W.” Gibson, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2018.
She served as a faithful member of Gibson Pentecostal Holiness Church, who was always at the church when the doors were open. Vera had the gift of hospitality and loved helping and entertaining others. She loved singing gospel music, riding and visiting others. Spending time with her family brought her great joy, especially with her grandchildren. Vera dedicated her life to her family and will always be remembered as a devoted mother, loving grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, William Clyde Quick.
Vera leaves behind her sons, John William “Buck” Gibson, Jr. (Christy) of McColl, SC; daughters, Vera Denise “Nessie” Bullard (Larry) of Laurinburg; brothers, William Joseph Quick, Jr., Jimmy Quick, both of Wagram, David “Wayne” Quick of Laurel Hill, Eli Locklear of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Brenda McKenzie of Laurinburg, Patsy Tart of McColl, Betty Emanuel of Wagram, Carlene Goodwin, Francis Goins, both of Baltimore, MD; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.
A private family service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Gibson Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Rev. Frankie Rogers. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.
