Joyce Simon, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at New Ulm Medical Center.
A private service will be held and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest. Pastor Brad Kuebler will be officiating.
Social distancing guidelines must be practiced, and all guests in attendance at the funeral will be required to wear a mask.

Joyce is survived by her daughters; Gloria (Hiroshi) Takagi, Linda (Roye) Stelzer, and Karen (Bill) McGuigan; her grandchildren, Naomi (Cesar) Acosta, Elisa Takagi, Emily (Steven) Ellingson, Elena (Kuan) Takagi, Tara (Steve) Weber, Nicole McGuigan; and great-grandchildren, Adler and Zaria Acosta.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold; her sisters, Jeanne, Margy, Chris; and her sons Thomas and Timothy.
Joyce Stella Simon was born July 30, 1924 in Worthington, MN to Clyde and Stella Christensen. She grew up on a farm in Brewster, MN. She attended Brewster High School and was in the Drum and Bugle Corp. After graduating in 1942, she worked as a telephone switchboard operator and in the local dime store where she met Harold. They married on April 20, 1944 at Westover Field in Springfield, Massachusetts before Harold left on a mission overseas during WWII. After the war, the couple lived in Worthington for a short time. Later moving to Ames, Iowa; then onto Suitland, Maryland; Big Falls, Minnesota; Faribault, Minnesota; Grand Rapids, Minnesota; and finally residing in New Ulm, Minnesota. Joyce was a homemaker, a Sunday School teacher, and an active member of the River Valley Christian Church. She was an encourager of her faith and loved God. She enjoyed walking, reading, playing Skip-bo, and traveling in their RV.
Memorials preferred to Pine Haven Christian Assembly.
