Mr. Joe Chester Poole, 84, of Uvalda, died Oct. 14, 2020 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after an extended illness. Joe was a native and lifelong resident of Uvalda. After graduating high school, he played semi-pro baseball with the Southeastern Division Conference. He was employed as a construction superintendent until his retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed growing scuppernongs and potatoes. He also enjoyed classic country music, old time gospel music and sports. Joe, a Methodist, was president of the John Wesley Men's Club. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Poole; parents, Chester and Penny Poole; brother, Douglas Poole, and sister, Betsy Joyce. Joe is survived by his son, Anthony Chester (Karon) Poole of Uvalda; sister, Mary Poole Cason of Uvalda; grandchildren, Amanda Poole (Travis) Blewett of Vidalia, Adam (Ana) Poole of Blackshear, Sandi (Blaine Lowe) Conner of Vidalia, Drew (Sunshine) Conner of Alston, and Derick (Becky) Conner of Ailey. Nine great-grandchildren also survive. Graveside services were held at Dead River Cemetery. Pastor Shareon Womack officiated. Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service.
