Edwin A. Beikmann, 84, died October 12, 2020 at the Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS.
Visitation was held Friday, October 16, 2020 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, Linn.
A funeral service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 17 at Zion Lutheran Church, Linn with Pastor David Gruoner officiating. The funeral was shown on our Ward Funeral Home Facebook page. Eunice Beier was organist and the congregation sang "I Am But a Stranger Here," "Amazing Grace" and "Abide With Me."
Pallbearers were Josh Dankenbring, Peter Beikmann, Thomas Beikmann, Benjamin Beikmann, William Beikmann, Christopher Beikmann and Michael Easley.
Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Edwin was born on October 11, 1936, on the family farm near Clifton, KS, to Herman and Esther (Schaaf) Beikmann. On October 18, 1936 the gracious triune God created saving faith in Jesus Christ within this infant as Savior of his life and received Edwin as a child through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Paul Stolp.
Edwin attended Immanuel Lutheran School. He confirmed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in the Rite of Confirmation on April 2, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Linn, KS under the Rev. B. Hobratschk. He graduated Linn Rural High School.
Ed married Nancy Rogge on June 5, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Linn, KS by the Rev. John D. Kovac. The Lord blessed them with four children: Jeffrey, Gregory, Todd and Amy.
As a member of Zion Lutheran Church, he served His Lord and the congregation over the years as an Elder, a member of the Board of Education, an auditor of the church books and served as Circuit Forum Representative from 1988-2006.
Ed worked at the Washington County Creamery in Linn and in 1966 was hired by Henry Kuhlman to work at Kuhlman Implement and Hardware, Inc. as a Parts Manager and then he later became owner of the establishment.
Being active in the Linn community he was a member of the Booster Club, City Council and then served as Mayor. Ed worked as a 4-H leader in woodworking and coached baseball. From 1989-2005 he represented Linn & Palmer on the Blue Valley Telecommunications Board. He and Nancy enjoyed travelling to many areas of the U.S. He was active on the Washington County Disability Advisory Committee.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a 4-year-old sister, Alma Dorothy; brothers and sisters in law, Ralph (Lydia) Beikmann and Raymond (Muriel) Beikman; brother in law and sister in law, Olen (Loretta) Rogge.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; sons, Jeffrey (LaShelle) Beikmann, Linn, Greg (Shari) Beikmann, Overland Park, and Todd (Donna) Beikmann, Prairie Village; daughter Amy (Rick) Hildebrand, Linn, 10 grandchildren; sister-in-law Micky Beikmann; brothers-in-law Virgil (Marian) Rogge, Vernon (Marge) Rogge and Fred (Idonna) Rogge.
A memorial fund has been established to Zion Lutheran Church, Linn Lutheran School or Linn Community Nursing Home. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
