Jerry Gail Griffin, born October 17, 1949 to Clara Mae Johnson Griffin and Vaudry Eugene Griffin, passed away September 23, 2020, while battling COVID-19 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Ms. Born and raised in Tupelo, MS and a graduate of Mississippi State. Jerry is survived by his wife Mary Ann Sherfey and sons Stephen(Erin) of Atlanta, GA. and Kevin(Lee Anne) of Oxford, MS. along with three grandchildren.
A fan of drinking coffee from a saucer, cutting his grass barefoot, trading stories with his brothers over a second helping, listening to baseball on the radio and sneaking treats to his grandchildren. Jerry will be deeply missed. Jerry was known amongst friends and family for his generosity and unexpected compassion. We are all thankful for sharing his time in this crazy world. Private visitation and celebration of his life will be October 12, 2020 at 10:30 am. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is entrusted with arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Vaudry “Junior” Griffin, Jr., Carl “ Hot Shot” Griffin, Jimmy Griffin, and Bobby Griffin. Survivors in addition to his wife and sons, are 1 sister, Violet Smith, 2 brothers, Billy Griffin and Ray Griffin all of Tupelo, MS.
