Mrs. Ava Hamrick Carter, age 95, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 following an extended illness. Mrs. Carter was born on August 25, 1915 in Cleburn Co., Alabama to her parents, the late Columbus & Salley Finnel Hamrick. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by, her husband; Jay Carter, Daughter Shelby Jean Mitchell two sisters; Faye Kimball, Cloia Nesmith & Clara Kimbell and a brothers; Horice Hamrick & Jim Hamrick. She was retired from the Arrow Shirt Manufacturing Company, having served many years as a seamstress. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her children, W.C. Blackmon, Vacel Carter, Faye Tillman; her brothers, Buddy Hamrick & A.W. Hamrick; her sisters, Betty Smith, Geneva Stone, Christine Stone, Ruth Rogers & Dorothy Carson; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ava Hamrick Carter will be conducted on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Frasier officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, March 24, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Litesey Funeral Home. The grandsons will serve as Pallbearers & the great grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
