Mary H. Comer, 102, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at her residence. She was born on August 15, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of the late Altha Ray and Helen (Whitsitt) Ray. Mary graduated from Scottsburg High School in the Class of 1936. Mary was married to Raymond H. Comer, who preceded her in death on April 16, 1986. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsburg, Indiana. Mary loved to read books, do crossword puzzles and sew. She made all of her own clothing and enjoyed making Barbie doll clothing. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and John Ray; a sister, Betty Barnhizer and a nephew, Mike Barnhizer.
Survivors include her son, Phillip R. Comer and his wife Linda Comer of Scottsburg, Indiana; a grandson, Michael Comer and his wife Krista; two great great granddaughters, Ella and Emme Comer and a niece, Pam Briggs.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Scottsburg Cemetery with Matt Craig officiating. Visitation: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation and services will be open to the public as long as social distancing guidelines can be observed.
