Joyce Marie Doss Patterson, formerly of Union Hall, but most recently a resident of Friendship Assisted Living in Roanoke, passed away, October 10, 2020. She was born in Appomattox on October 16, 1928, the eldest of the four children of Thomas and Aileen Ferguson Doss.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Jane Patterson; a son, William Thomas Patterson (Anne Marie); a grandson, Joshua Thomas Patterson; numerous nieces, nephews. She was also predeceased by her husband, William Diuguid Patterson, Jr.: her siblings, Carlene Covington, Nancy Hall and Kenneth Doss.
She was employed for many years at Appomattox Garment Company and Chatham Knitting Mills. She was well known for her handmade quilts.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park.
