Services for Clarence Henry Horton, 86, will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Vandalia with Reverend Stan Hudson officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
Due to COVID-19 precautions please follow social distancing guidelines and masks are recommended if you are planning to attend the services.
 Pallbearers will be Andrew Horton, Dennis Horton, Robert Horton, Jeffrey Stone, Craig Wenzel, and Jason Wenzel.

Mr. Horton passed away at 5:55 a.m. on October 11, 2020 in Osage Beach.

Clarence was born April 26, 1934 near Eolia to Irven Henry and Beulah Ethel Hudson Horton.

He married Carolyn Kisor on July 19, 1953 at the Vandalia Methodist Church in Vandalia and she survives.

Other survivors include: two children, Teresa (Kevin) Wenzel of Vandalia; Dennis Horton of Osage Beach; a sister, Faye Jean Stone of Fulto; one brother Tom (Brenda) Horton of Auxvasse; three grandsons; Jason(B.J.) Wenzel of Kearney; Craig Wenzel of Vandalia, Andrew (Brenna) Horton of Ozark and five great-grandchildren: Erin and Tristan Wenzel; Maddie, Bentley, and Kali Horton. and lots of extended family members.

Clarence was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, James Robert Horton, and Ralph Hadley Horton; and one infant sister, Shirley Ann; brother-in-law, Charles Stone, and sister-in-law, Sharon Horton and nephew, Jim Bob Horton.

Clarence grew up a country boy and enjoyed shenanigans with his Elliott cousins.

Clarence graduated from Vandalia High School the Class of 1951.

He followed in his father's footsteps and became a carpenter. He was a 50+ year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Most recently he was a member of Local 555 in Denver, Colorado. Clarence built and designed many homes in Missouri and moon lighted as a drywall taper for many more. He went to work for Bank Builders Corporation of St. Louis and was a Project Manager, built, and remodeled banks mostly in the Midwest and western states. He was proud that he never had a job that ran over time or budget. He was also called to fix jobs that did not go right. Clarence finally retired from Bank Builders at age 70. Before that, he and Carolyn had established home base in Aurora, Colorado. They lived there for 30 years. They moved to Osage Beach in November 2019.

Clarence was extremely interested in his family's history and spent many years researching and compiling records. He had the gift of storytelling, which he inherited from his Grandpa Clarence Hudson, and never knew a stranger. Clarence was a talented craftsman, that could fix anything.

He belonged to the United Methodist Church.

Clarence and Carolyn loved baseball and after retirement, experienced a bucket list item by traveling to Arizona several years for Spring Training.
